For 7 years, the City of Fontana hosted an Annual Mayor’s Gala to benefit non-profit organizations in the community. Garden Interiors was instrumental in raising the bar in our community and making the Mayor’s Gala the classiest event to ever happen in our community.
Starting in 2003, the Mayor’s Gala began as an “adult prom”..a kick-off for the new Mayor, Mark Nuaimi. From that year on, the gala was a black tie event, consisting of a silent auction, dinner, entertainment, State of the City by the Mayor and dancing. Over the 7 years in which Mayor Nuaimi presided as Mayor, the event raised over $500k for numerous charities.
The gala committee consisted of residents, community leaders and Garden Interiors. Earleen Ferguson and her husband Donald Dudley were the only vendors that were on the committee, and we would have not made it without them. Each year, the gala would have a different theme. The décor, food and entertainment would reflect the theme for that year. Some of the themes were: A Tribute to Hollywood, Masquerade Ball, Under the City Lights, Passport to Intrigue. Garden Interiors was amazing in their ability to take our ideas for the theme for that year and design a venue that was gorgeous. They outdid themselves every year. They were able to not only turn a white tent into a Hollywood party but for 3 years, they turned a roller rink into an amazing venue. The atmosphere that they created in those venues beat any 5-Star hotel banquet room I have ever been to.
Earleen and Donald were part of our family. They were at every meeting and made our Gala their ‘baby’ and put their heart and soul into making our event the best it could be. They were also very conscious of the fact that our event was a fundraiser. We knew we could always count of getting not only the most for our money but also the “best” for our money.
The last Mayor’s Gala was in 2010. I think the part I miss the most as the chair is spending time with the friends I made during those 7 years. I consider Earleen and Donald to be two of my dearest friends that I made. They are the most upstanding, honest, loyal and hardest working people I have ever met.
Whatever they touch is a success because they give it their heart, soul and sweat.
With gratitude and support I wish Garden Interiors my best always!
